The garden under analysis is located in Japan and highlights methods that differ from those familiar to us in European garden design.
Japanese garden art allows the garden to harmonize with the seasons in a refined and natural way. It works with the seasons – not against them.

For this reason, I would like to devote my paper to the traditional techniques used to protect plants during the winter. During my walk through the Tonogayato Garden, I examined three of these techniques in detail. They are directly connected to the theme of vegetation.

This raises the question: How do these elements influence the perception of the garden? The photographs illustrate the richness of the garden even in the cold of winter and trace the path of my walk.
